Krijn Kroes. 2024

In Krijn Kroes’ works, the canvas is host to an assemblage of enigmatic compositions in which different natural motifs, irregular patterns and painted reflections collide. The dark paintings never give too much away, leaving much to the viewer’s imagination. Krijn draws inspiration from his own background: he grew up in the Veluwe region, surrounded by nature, and his artworks are often an attempt to convey an equivocal sense of unity between humans and nature. Through a masterful painting technique, Krijn creates a play of darkness and light that causes a different viewing experience from every angle.

Krijn’s educational background lies in agricultural and Fine Art studies. He worked as a florist prior to graduating from Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) in 2020. His artworks have been exhibited in a number of galleries throughout the Netherlands, including Galerie Ron Mandos, Galerie Pouloueff and Root Gallery.
